Futures-Utopias

The My Future York project is supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council’s Connected Communities programme as part of the Connected Communities Festival 2016. Taking inspiration from the 500th anniversary of Thomas More’s Utopia (published in Latin in 1516), this year’s Festival theme is Community Futures and Utopia, in partnership with The Somerset House Trust’s ‘Utopia 2016: a year of Imagination and Possibility’.

As part of the Festival, My Future York had a stall at the Utopia Fair at Somerset House (24-26 June). Inspired by work with York Libraries and Archives and the York Past and Present Facebook group, the stall explored the potential of utopian thinking for heritage and ways in which this might be harnessed for local democracy and community engagement.
